An advocate can help women and children experiencing family violence and homelessness by:
- Representing your views if you feel unable to do this yourself
- Providing information and guidance
- Preparing written communications or legal submissions
- Accompanying you to meetings, hearings or appointments
- Clarifying processes and procedures
- Negotiating and mediating to resolve disputes
- Gathering and organising information and documentation.
An advocate is not a lawyer. If you need legal advice, we can put you in touch with a community legal organisation experienced in family violence.
