If you need someone to advocate for you

An advocate can help women and children experiencing family violence and homelessness by:

  • Representing your views if you feel unable to do this yourself
  • Providing information and guidance
  • Preparing written communications or legal submissions
  • Accompanying you to meetings, hearings or appointments
  • Clarifying processes and procedures
  • Negotiating and mediating to resolve disputes
  • Gathering and organising information and documentation.

An advocate is not a lawyer. If you need legal advice, we can put you in touch with a community legal organisation experienced in family violence.
